Quick answer: Boulevard's AI Receptionist, Beau, is in beta. It answers calls, but for new bookings it texts the caller a booking link instead of booking during the call, and it can't book memberships, packages, gift cards, group appointments or other locations (Boulevard Support). If that's a gap for you, you can keep Beau and work its Follow up from AI list, add a specialist AI receptionist or answering service alongside your front desk, or compare salon and med spa software whose own AI books during the call.
By Sean Scalabrini, co-founder of CallPad. Updated 23 October 2026. Boulevard facts come from Boulevard's support center and changelog, checked 23 October 2026. CallPad is one of the options below, so we have a stake in this.
Boulevard's support center describes Beau as an AI receptionist built into Boulevard that answers incoming calls and handles each one in one of five ways (Boulevard Support):
Boulevard says AI Receptionist is in beta, rolling out gradually, and set up per location. Clinical businesses can add a spoken 911 reminder and a transfer to their medical director (Boulevard Support).
Boulevard lists what Beau doesn't do yet (Boulevard Support):
Boulevard's changelog describes a Follow up from AI view in Messages that collects every AI Receptionist call that needs a person: callers who left a message, transfers that didn't connect, and clients who haven't used their booking link. If the client books, the follow-up clears on its own (Boulevard changelog). If your team checks this list several times a day, Beau plus a quick call-back can cover most gaps.
You can put a separate AI receptionist or answering service on your line, alongside your front desk:
Before you choose, ask each one whether it books into your calendar during the call or texts a link, and run a test call.
If you are reviewing your booking software anyway, these platforms describe built-in AI that answers calls and books:
CallPad is an AI receptionist for salons, spas, med spas, clinics, pet groomers and gyms in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. On the booking systems it works with, CallPad:
Every plan is a flat rate with all minutes included. Setup takes about 10 minutes. CallPad offers a BAA. CallPad books in real time in Mindbody, Booker, Zenoti, Square Appointments, GlossGenius, Setmore, Zoho Bookings, Phorest, SalonIQ, Salon Manager, Shortcuts, Simple Salon, Cliniko and Google Calendar; see the booking systems CallPad works with.
Not yet. Boulevard's support center says Beau books a new appointment by texting the caller a booking link with the right service selected, then texts a reminder if the client hasn't booked within 12 hours. For reschedules and cancellations it sends a client portal link.
Boulevard says Beau can't currently book or sell memberships, packages or gift cards, book group appointments, or book at a location other than the one being called. It also doesn't make outbound calls, do two-way texting or match clients to staff by expertise, and its tone, voice and name can't be customised yet.
It's a view in Boulevard Messages that collects every AI Receptionist call that needs a person, including messages, transfers that didn't connect and clients who haven't used their booking link. A follow-up clears on its own if the client books.

Zenoti, GlossGenius, Mangomint (Mira), Meevo, SalonBiz (Brook AI) and PatientNow (Recura AI) all describe AI that answers calls and books. Zenoti and GlossGenius are on the list of booking systems CallPad works with; for the others, there's no CallPad integration yet.
