What does Jane offer on the phone today?

According to Jane's own pages (checked 19 October 2026):

• Virtual receptionists are people, not AI. Jane says they're real, clinic-trained Jane experts based in North America (Jane).
• They answer under your existing number. They can book new appointments, reschedule or cancel, answer general patient inquiries and take action in Jane (Jane guide).
• Weekday business hours. They're available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm in your local time zone, across Canada and the US.
• Where it's offered. The US and Canada, with limited coverage for UK clinics on North American time zones.
• It's an add-on. Jane says pricing varies by clinic volume and tasks, and you start with a discovery call.

Jane's blog adds that after-hours coverage isn't currently available, though it's something Jane is exploring (Jane blog).

What about Jane's AI Receptionist?

Jane lists a "24/7 phone answering service with our AI Receptionist" as in development. It says it's building an AI receptionist for around-the-clock coverage, after hours or when your team needs extra support, that will handle appointments and basic inquiries and pass more complex conversations to your team. Jane also says it will clearly label AI-powered offerings as AI (Jane). We found no release date on Jane's page.

How does an AI receptionist fit a Jane clinic?

The gap today is the hours outside the working week: evenings, weekends and early mornings, when patients may want to book or move an appointment. Your options are to wait for Jane's AI Receptionist, use Jane's human receptionists during business hours, or look at a specialist AI receptionist. Whichever you consider, ask whether it books the appointment during the call or only takes a message.

What should you check in any AI receptionist?

• Does it book during the call? Some send a link instead.
• Can it book a named practitioner? Regulars usually want their own.
• Can it take a deposit on the call?
• What happens when a caller wants a person? Look for a live transfer or a message your team can act on.
• Which hours does it cover? Evenings and weekends are when many calls go unanswered.
