Which booking systems does each one work with?

Both book into Square Appointments and Google Calendar. Voka says it reads services, prices and staff live from Square or Acuity (Voka). After that they split.

  • Only CallPad names Mindbody, Booker, Zenoti, GlossGenius, Setmore, Zoho Bookings, Phorest, SalonIQ, Salon Manager, Shortcuts, Simple Salon and Cliniko. CallPad powers the AI receptionists built into SalonIQ (IQ Connect), Shortcuts and Salon Manager.
  • Only Voka names Acuity Scheduling and Calendly, and it lets you connect your own MCP server or webhooks (Voka).

On Square, both are options. See AI receptionists for Square Appointments and the full list of booking systems CallPad works with.

What happens on a call?

With CallPad, a caller can book, move or cancel with the stylist they ask for, book several services in one visit, ask about prices, pay a deposit, buy a gift card or ask for a person. Your team gets an email when a message is taken. You can hear CallPad take a booking call.

Voka answers from your website, uploaded documents and what it reads from Square or Acuity. It can transfer calls, take keypad input and hand off between assistants, and it sends a summary of each call to your portal. You can write yes/no questions about each call and get an alert when the answer matches (Voka).

Do they work outside the US?

CallPad's main markets are the US, UK, Australia and Canada. In the UK it powers SalonIQ's IQ Connect, and in Australia it works with Shortcuts and Simple Salon. Voka describes itself as serving businesses nationwide and gives a US phone line on its site, so if you're outside the US, ask Voka about coverage. For the UK, see AI receptionists for UK salons.

Who is each one best for?

  • CallPad is best for salons, spas, med spas and clinics that book in salon or clinic software and want an AI receptionist that books with a named stylist, handles multi-service bookings and takes deposits, in the US, UK, Australia or Canada.
  • Voka is best for small businesses in any trade that book in Square, Acuity, Google Calendar or Calendly, want outbound calling, or want to connect their own tools through MCP or webhooks.

Either way, make test calls with your real call types before you decide. Our guide on how accurate an AI receptionist is at booking has a test list.

How CallPad helps

CallPad is an AI receptionist for salons, spas, med spas and clinics in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. It answers every call 24/7, handles several calls at once and screens out spam calls. It answers questions from your own information, including your prices, and speaks several languages. It books, moves and cancels appointments in real time with a named stylist or practitioner on the booking systems CallPad works with, including multi-service bookings, and can take a deposit or payment on the call or sell a gift card. If you have more than one location, it asks which one the caller wants and books into that location's calendar. It also replies to texts and can book by text, sends missed-call text-backs and texts clients on your waitlist when a slot opens up. When a caller needs a person, it transfers the call to your team or takes a message, and your team gets an email saying what the caller wanted. Setup takes about 10 minutes.
