Which booking systems does each one work with?

This is the biggest difference. CallPad books, moves and cancels appointments in real time in salon and clinic software: Mindbody, Booker, Zenoti, Square Appointments, GlossGenius, Setmore, Zoho Bookings, Phorest, SalonIQ, Salon Manager, Shortcuts, Simple Salon, Cliniko and Google Calendar. CallPad powers the AI receptionists built into SalonIQ (IQ Connect), Shortcuts and Salon Manager. See the booking systems CallPad works with.

Goodcall's native connections are Google Calendar, Google Sheets and HighLevel. Its FAQ says other systems require a configured API tool or MCP server (Goodcall). If your salon runs its diary in Google Calendar, both can book into it. If you use salon software, check that the tool can book into it during the call. Read AI receptionists for Google Calendar for that setup.

What happens on a call?

With CallPad, a caller can book, move or cancel with the stylist they ask for, ask about prices and services, book several services in one visit, pay a deposit, buy a gift card or ask for a person. Your team gets an email when a message is taken. You can hear CallPad take a booking call.

Goodcall's agent asks your questions in your order, spells back names and numbers, and texts and emails you the lead as the call ends. It records and transcribes every call, and you can track your own metrics, such as booked appointments (Goodcall).

Do they work outside the US?

CallPad's main markets are the US, UK, Australia and Canada. In the UK it powers SalonIQ's IQ Connect, in Australia it works with Shortcuts and Simple Salon, and in Canada it books into systems such as Phorest, Square Appointments and Cliniko. See AI receptionists for salons in Canada.

Goodcall's FAQ says you choose an available local US number (Goodcall). If you're outside the US, ask Goodcall about coverage in your country.

Who is each one best for?

  • CallPad is best for salons, spas, med spas and clinics that book in salon or clinic software and want an AI receptionist that books with a named stylist, takes deposits and handles salon calls end to end, in the US, UK, Australia or Canada.
  • Goodcall is best for US small businesses in any trade that book in Google Calendar, send leads to HighLevel or a Google Sheet, and want to build their phone agent by describing it.

Either way, make test calls with your real call types before you decide. Our guide on how accurate an AI receptionist is at booking has a test list.

How CallPad helps

CallPad is an AI receptionist for salons, spas, med spas and clinics in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. It answers every call 24/7, handles several calls at once and screens out spam calls. It answers questions from your own information, including your prices, and speaks several languages. It books, moves and cancels appointments in real time with a named stylist or practitioner on the booking systems CallPad works with, including multi-service bookings, and can take a deposit or payment on the call or sell a gift card. If you have more than one location, it asks which one the caller wants and books into that location's calendar. It also replies to texts and can book by text, sends missed-call text-backs and texts clients on your waitlist when a slot opens up. When a caller needs a person, it transfers the call to your team or takes a message, and your team gets an email saying what the caller wanted. Setup takes about 10 minutes.
