Which booking systems does each one work with?

There's real overlap: both name Mindbody, Booker, Zenoti, GlossGenius and Google Calendar. After that they split.

  • Only CallPad names Phorest, SalonIQ, Salon Manager, Shortcuts, Simple Salon, Cliniko, Square Appointments, Setmore and Zoho Bookings. CallPad powers the AI receptionists built into SalonIQ (IQ Connect), Shortcuts and Salon Manager.
  • Only AgentZap names Vagaro, Fresha, Boulevard, Booksy, Mangomint, Meevo, Rosy and Jane App, among others. Its Vagaro page says it books into your Vagaro calendar by webhook sync (AgentZap).

If you run Vagaro: CallPad answers calls and captures booking requests today, and live booking into Vagaro is in the works. See Does Vagaro have an AI receptionist?. For the full CallPad list, see the booking systems CallPad works with.

What happens on a call?

With CallPad, a caller can book, move or cancel, ask about prices, hours and services, pay a deposit, buy a gift card or ask for a person. When someone wants a person, CallPad transfers the call to your team or takes a message, and your team gets an email saying what the caller wanted. You can hear CallPad take a booking call.

AgentZap describes a similar flow: it answers, works out what the caller needs, checks real-time availability, books and sends confirmations, then notifies you by SMS or email with a call summary. It adds live human agents for situations the AI can't handle (AgentZap).

Do they work in Canada, the UK and Australia?

CallPad's main markets are the US, UK, Australia and Canada, and it has customers in Canada. In the UK it powers SalonIQ's IQ Connect, and in Australia it works with Shortcuts and Simple Salon. For Canada, see AI receptionists for salons in Canada.

We didn't find a list of countries on the AgentZap pages we checked. Its Jane App page mentions HIPAA and PIPEDA (AgentZap). If you're outside the US, ask AgentZap about coverage and phone numbers in your country.

Who is each one best for?

  • CallPad is best for salons, spas, med spas and clinics that want an AI receptionist built only for their industry, run a platform CallPad books into, or are in the UK, Australia or Canada.
  • AgentZap is best for businesses on Vagaro, Fresha, Boulevard, Booksy, Mangomint or Jane App, owners who want live human backup, and groups that run more than one type of business.

Either way, make test calls with your real call types before you decide. Our guide on how accurate an AI receptionist is at booking has a test list.

How CallPad helps

CallPad is an AI receptionist for salons, spas, med spas and clinics in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. It answers every call 24/7, handles several calls at once and screens out spam calls. It answers questions from your own information, including your prices, and speaks several languages. It books, moves and cancels appointments in real time with a named stylist or practitioner on the booking systems CallPad works with, including multi-service bookings, and can take a deposit or payment on the call or sell a gift card. If you have more than one location, it asks which one the caller wants and books into that location's calendar. It also replies to texts and can book by text, sends missed-call text-backs and texts clients on your waitlist when a slot opens up. When a caller needs a person, it transfers the call to your team or takes a message, and your team gets an email saying what the caller wanted. Setup takes about 10 minutes.
